GHMC Deuty Mayor Srilatha exhorts people to not panic of heavy rains

Hyderabad: GHMC Deputy Mayor Mote Srilatha Sobhan Reddy on Tuesday said citizens should not get panicked due to heavy rains in the city and added that the authorities and the GHMC administration were with the people of the State capital at all times. She visited the affected areas on Tuesday and also visited the control room at the GHMC headquarters. She enquired about the complaints received by the control room in the wake of the rains.
Control Room OSD Anuradha briefed the Deputy Mayor about the details of the rainfall in various parts of the city till this morning, the performance of the teams in the last 24 hours, the manner in which the rain situation was being monitored from the control room to the city, Hussainsagar water level, low-lying areas and the condition of the tanks in the city.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Mayor said in the wake of heavy rains in the last two days, the authorities and the GHMC administration had been put on high alert and was taking all measures to ensure that people do not face any difficulties. She said the officials, DRF and monsoon emergency teams were working round-the-clock in the field area and added that they were fully monitoring and taking necessary measures from time to time. She said the complaints received from the public were being addressed immediately by touring the field and resolving the issues. She said the slush gate of Hussain Sagar was lifted and water was released downstream in view of the rise in excess of the minimum water level due to the flood water coming from above areas . She explained that people in the lower areas had been advised to remain vigilant.
